Artificial knee replacement
Total knee replacement
As the largest joint in the human body, the knee is subject to a high amount of strain. It is therefore not only extremely prone to injury but also susceptible to arthritic changes.
For arthritis of the knee, the total condylar knee replacement is a method that allows both short regeneration periods and bilateral operations.
This procedure involves removal of the worn or damaged joint surfaces and shaping the implantation so that it fits precisely between the thigh and shin bones. If arthritis affects both knees, it is also possible to operate on them at the same time. The regeneration time is then only slightly longer than for a single knee replacement. This facilitates rapid reintegration into normal life and allows an early return to work.
