Sonography
In our treatment centre we carry out sonography of the joints as well as of the soft tissue of the musculoskeletal system.
Hip sonography is standard practice in the prescribed U3 examination of babies. This allows the simple and rapid diagnosis of possible immature hips in newborn babies so that treatment can be initiated without delay.
Ultrasonic diagnosis
Ultrasonic diagnosis, or sonography, is today an established method of diagnosing musculoskeletal diseases. Knowledge of standardised sonographic examination techniques is essential for reliable diagnostic evaluation. This tried and tested method is regarded as superior to many other imaging techniques when diagnosing numerous diseases and changes affecting muscles, ligaments, soft tissue and joints.
Early detection of hip dysplasia
In our treatment centre we not only carry out the usual sonographic examinations of soft tissue and joints, but also ultrasound examinations of babies’ hips as part of the prescribed U3 preventive examination. This allows early identification and treatment of hip dysplasia in babies.
Today, sonographic control of a baby’s hips is standard procedure.
The advantages of sonography
- No pressure for the patient or the examining doctor
- Repeatable as often as necessary
- Economical
- Depiction of dynamic processes
- Left and right sides can be compared during the examination
- No interference from metal implants (unlike CT or MRI)
