Sonography
In our treatment centre we carry out sonography of the joints as well as of the soft tissue of the muskoskeletal system. Hip sonography is standard practice in the prescribed U-3 examination of babies. This allows the simple and rapid diagnosis of possible immature hips in newborn babies and treatment can be initiated without any delays. |
Ultrasonic diagnosis, or sonography, is today an established method of diagnosing muskoskeletal diseases. Knowledge of the standardised sonographic examination techniques is essential for reliable diagnostic evaluation. This is a tried and tested method and is regarded as being superior to other imaging techniques in diagnosing a great number of diseases and changes to muscle, ligament and soft tissue and joints in the human body. In our treatment centre we not only carry out the usual sonographic examinations of soft tissue and joints, but also sonographic examination of babies’ hips within the prescribed U3 prophylactic examination. This allows early identification and treatment of hip dysplasia in babies. Today, sonographic control of a baby’s hips is standard procedure. |
The advantages of sonography:Freedom from pressure for both patient and the examining doctor, repeatable as often as necessary, economical, depiction of kinetic processes, left and right sides can be compared during an examination, no disturbance through pieces of metal in the body (as opposed to computer and nuclear spin tomography). |
