Acupuncture in Berlin | TCM Tradition
Acupuncture is based on more than 3,000 years of experience with Chinese healing methods. Western medicine can no longer ignore the success of this treatment method. The therapy has proven particularly effective in treating painful diseases of the spine and joints, as well as chronic headaches.
We have more than 20 years of experience practicing acupuncture. Training took place in the Far East (including Beijing) and at recognized training centres for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Germany.
Typical indications include spinal and joint complaints, chronic headaches, dizziness and tinnitus.
In October 2006 the treatment centre was awarded the quality seal for acupuncture.
Indications
We use adjuvant body acupuncture, ear acupuncture, Yamamoto new scalp acupuncture and Korean hand acupuncture.
We often supplement the treatment with moxibustion (warming the acupuncture point by burning fragrant herbs over it).
Laser acupuncture is used for patients with a low pain threshold, particularly children.

Clinical Practice
Our body is traversed by a system of meridians forming a network of pathways through which Qi (life energy) flows. Illness can occur when the flow of Qi is disturbed.
By inserting needles into specific acupuncture points, the Qi flow can be restored. Each patient experiences the treatment differently.
Some feel a heavy or pressing sensation at the needle insertion point while others feel nothing. Many patients experience a feeling of physical relaxation after only a few minutes. Some also report a sensation of energy flowing through the body.
Reactions such as shivering, tingling, dizziness, cold or warmth may occur when tension and blockages are released. This is not a cause for concern but rather a sign that the treatment is taking effect.
Generally, two to three acupuncture treatments are carried out each week, usually in series of 10–15 sessions. Additional treatment series can be performed if necessary. Patients with statutory health insurance can also receive acupuncture treatment because Dr. Surminski participates in a model program involving statutory health insurance providers.
