4D Posture and Spinal Column Measurement

The absolutely precise analysis and measurement of the spinal column and the entire skeleton is carried out completely without radiation.

The image of a 4D measurement is similar to a radiograph, but the differences in the patients’ posture between the images are significant. This method enables a sequence of up to 24 images per second, and by determining the average posture, the accuracy and clinical value of the information can be improved. Therefore, the complete procedure lasts only a few seconds.

Precise and Quick Analysis Without Contact or Radiation

The constant development of clinical diagnostics has led to a new technology called 4D analysis. 4D analysis allows us to diagnose postural deformities, imbalances caused by blockages, leg length discrepancies caused by the integration of an artificial hip joint, the degree of spinal deformation, and many other complaints quickly and reliably.

This is done by a projection of light, making a radiograph unnecessary. This highly precise technological measurement enables the depiction of the form and position of, for example, the spinal column or the knee joints. Malpositions and postural deformities can be detected.

The measurement of posture while standing usually takes about 30 to 60 seconds in order to assess coordinative abilities and muscular deficiencies.

Due to volume measurement, the formetric 4D is able to analyse the complete body and the entire skeleton using up to 10,000 measuring points and a sequence of about 24 images per second. Typically, the images are taken during the use of steppers or treadmills.

Further development based on the same method has led to the analysis of footprints and gait as well as the examination of balance, which is useful for patients who suffer from severe dizziness.
